work in progress: March 2013 Beursschouwburg, Brussels
A performance about gender and the iconography of body gestures – looking at ancient egyptian, greek and roman figures of art and artifacts, passing through the ages to find visible and the internal marks on and in our contemporary bodies, in the poses we assume or assume us.
Apparently random gestures are infact culturally codified expressions of power, rank and gender. Aby Warburg speaks of the „Nachleben“ of antique cultures. These ghosts are in our bodies today and we see them in our every step and pose.
POSE is the newest chapter in a series of performance works by Lindy Annis since 2002 focusing on body gesture and cultural emotional memory. („the body archive“)
