Figurines

in January of 2020, shortly before the virus caused my work to become less performative, I learned how to build plaster casts and pour porcelain editions of objects. My original goal was to bring my paper figures into the world of porcelain figurines – to join the ranks of Frederic the Great or romantic duettes of „Milkmaid and Stable boy“ or „Courtly Dame and Gentleman“. I had seen these figures displayed in the Kupferstich Kabinet Museum in Berlin along with animals and baskets of fruit, shining in colourful glazes. Some of these museum pieces are broken and fragmented, their fragmented forms remember the passage of time and the blows of war.

My figurines are also whole or fragmented. Their bodies are hold memories of the unusual solitude of these past years.
